Start by separating hosting from managed work
Website maintenance cost is not one universal market rate. A hosting plan provides infrastructure and listed platform features. A managed website plan can also include human work such as checks, content changes, incident response, reporting and responsibility for agreed tasks. Compare the payable amount, renewal terms, included time and exclusions rather than a monthly headline alone.
What current provider pages show
Provider pages are evidence of their own advertised offers on the review date, not evidence of what Indian customers are willing to pay. Hostinger advertises multi-year introductory hosting rates with a higher renewal rate. GoDaddy India lists introductory hosting rates tied to a term and separately displays renewal amounts or conditions. These pages show why payable term and renewal price matter, but they do not establish a market average for managed maintenance.

What maintenance should cover
The WordPress project recommends regular maintenance, updates, checks for broken links and backups. That guidance supports asking who performs each task and how often. It does not set a commercial price or prove that a provider performs the work for you.
- Hosting, SSL and domain-renewal responsibility.
- Software, plugin and dependency updates with an agreed test and recovery path.
- Backups plus a stated restore responsibility; a backup product alone is not a restore test.
- Monitoring and a named response path for agreed incidents.
- Included content, design or development time and what happens when it is used.
- Reporting, access, source handover and cancellation boundaries.
- WordPress site maintenance documentationProject documentation about maintenance tasks; not pricing or willingness-to-pay evidence.
What this evidence cannot tell you
Provider pricing is supply-side marketing evidence. It does not show buyer budgets, willingness to pay, service quality or a representative Indian market average. NavMantra has not published customer survey or transaction evidence for those questions, so this guide makes no market-average claim.
Questions to ask before choosing
- What exact amount is payable now, for what term, and at what renewal price?
- Which person performs updates, checks and incident work?
- How much human support time is included and does unused time roll over?
- Who controls the domain, hosting account, source and recovery material?
- Which third-party, tax and out-of-scope costs remain separate?
- What happens at cancellation or handover?
Start with one process that is already in use.
